TEHRAN – About 80 percent of the sophisticated equipments used in the nation’s power plants are supplied by domestic producers, noted on Tuesday, deputy energy minister Masud Hojjat.

Making use of the expertise of domestic experts, the nation is fully self-sufficient in the electricity distribution and almost fully independent in the electricity transfer sectors, he maintained.

Last year, a number of power plants capable of generating about 3,000 megawatts of electricity were built in the country, he maintained adding, the relative capacity of the power plants currently working across the nation has exceeded the 40,000 megawatts.

He further commented that in the past year, domestic experts had managed to expand the power generation, distribution and transfer capacities, supply electricity to nation’s deprived areas, take measures aimed at reduction in costs as well as the production of the state-of-the-art equipments and parts widely used in the industry.
